Chapter 38
“You, you changed back?” Chu Yunmiao confirmed.
Yu Changning came back to herself and nodded. “Mm, I think so.”
Chu Yunmiao instinctively covered her mouth. “So the way to reverse the second transformation into an animal is…”
Her face flushed; she couldn’t even finish the rest of the sentence.
Amusement glinted in Yu Changning’s eyes. “Yes.”
Chu Yunmiao drew a deep breath. “Did you find a way to break it at the end? Why did you suddenly… cough, forget it. Stop sitting on me. Get off.”
Yu Changning did not leave as she wished.
Instead, she slowly bent down and pressed Chu Yunmiao, who had been propping herself up on one elbow, back onto the ground. Curving her lips, she asked back, “Get off? After you’ve done so many outrageous things to me, do you think I’d just let you off so easily?”
Chu Yunmiao’s eyes darted around; she still didn’t dare meet Yu Changning’s gaze. “What did I do?”
She played dumb. “The game quest is complete, isn’t it? Our team’s score is the highest of everyone’s, and we even finished the hidden quest. Once we get out, we’ll be able to claim a big prize…”
“You really worked hard,” Yu Changning said.
Her voice was low; the words were clearly praise, but her tone was anything but. It sent a chill down Chu Yunmiao’s spine.
Chu Yunmiao gritted her teeth. “No need to be polite. It’s what I should do.”
The smile on Yu Changning’s lips remained, but her eyes narrowed slightly. “So, my dear ‘master’… now that your task is complete, isn’t it my turn to put on a performance?”
“A performance?” Chu Yunmiao’s heart sped up. She couldn’t tell whether she was afraid or looking forward to it; carefully glancing at Yu Changning, she asked, “How are you going to perform?”
Yu Changning said nothing.
The two of them simply stared at each other in silence amid the quiet forest.
It was only a game; by rights, it shouldn’t have been possible. But Chu Yunmiao felt as if she could smell the faint scent of Yu Changning’s pheromones, the spot behind her neck where her gland was seemed to heat up a little.
Her body felt strangely warm; she licked her lips in discomfort.
Yu Changning’s eyes darkened all at once, and she leaned down.
Chu Yunmiao’s mind went blank. She slowly closed her eyes, and the next second, the softness she expected landed on her lips.
She was a little entranced, and was just about to chase after the other woman when she suddenly felt a sharp pain on her lower lip——
That earlier tenderness seemed to have been nothing more than a clever disguise. Yu Changning’s teeth caught her lower lip, producing a dense, lingering ache.
Chu Yunmiao snapped back to her senses through the pain, and her hands flailed in a panic.
She wasn’t struggling blindly; instead, she was consciously trying to find something. She clearly remembered that before entering the castle, she had put it away somewhere...
“You looking for this?” Yu Changning suddenly let her go and asked, holding a water gun in her hand.
Chu Yunmiao turned toward the sound and, sure enough, saw the thing she’d been aiming for.
She felt a little guilty. “N-no…”
“Still want to turn me back into a little rabbit?” Yu Changning looked at her like she was examining a prisoner with hidden motives. “Being the master makes you that happy?”
Chu Yunmiao thought back to those blissful moments when Yu Changning was still a little rabbit and she had been free to knead her round and flat however she liked. All that remained in her heart was a long sigh. But she absolutely did not dare show it; she kept her eyes wide and lied through them. “Cough, of course not.”
“Oh?”
Yu Changning’s tone was meaningful. In the next second, she raised her hand and pointed the water gun’s muzzle at Chu Yunmiao’s heart.
In an instant, Chu Yunmiao understood what she meant. “Y-you, don’t…”
Before she could finish, Yu Changning pulled the trigger. The magical potion splashed onto Chu Yunmiao. She only felt a brief wave of dizziness; very quickly, the scenery around her began to enlarge proportionally, and she seemed to tumble onto the soft grass. She looked down in surprise, only to see a furry little paw.
In the blink of an eye, the dignified Imperial Crown Princess had turned into a white chinchilla before Yu Changning.
The smile in Yu Changning’s eyes had deepened all the way to her gaze. She gently gathered the still-dazed little chinchilla into her palm.
Chu Yunmiao opened her mouth, but only a string of chirps came out, and she couldn’t understand them herself. Frightened, she covered her mouth with her paw, then looked at Yu Changning with a pitiful expression.
Yu Changning meticulously kneaded her obedient fur, looking completely satisfied. “Mm, so that’s what it feels like.”
She lightly tugged at the chinchilla’s whiskers. “No wonder you like that rabbit so much.”
She used “that rabbit” to refer to her previous transformed state, firmly refusing to connect herself with that dumb rabbit that couldn’t do anything.
Chu Yunmiao was angry, but didn’t dare speak; she could only let her toy with her in grievance.
Yu Changning scratched her ears and kept commenting. “Don’t you think you’re much better behaved?”
“If you’d turned into a little pet from the start, would you have been willing to let those two people pet and kiss you all over?”
Chu Yunmiao looked up at her blankly, not understanding why she’d steered the topic in that direction.
But Yu Changning, as if instructing her, tapped her little head. “No.”
She emphasized, “A cute pet can only act spoiled with its owner; it can only let its owner pet and kiss it. Remember that?”
Chu Yunmiao played dumb. “Chirp?”
Yu Changning laughed.
She held the little chinchilla and lifted her to eye level, then gently buried her face in the chinchilla’s soft belly. Ignoring the little chinchilla’s stiffness, she didn’t stop; all the way up, and finally, she kissed the corner of Chu ‘Chinchilla’ Yunmiao’s mouth.
By the time Yu Changning let her go, Chu Chinchilla was already frozen in place. Yu Changning had just opened her mouth to speak when she suddenly realized that Chu Chinchilla seemed to have come to her senses all at once; with a “ding,” she vanished right in front of her——
Chu Yunmiao logged off on the spot.
Yu Changning was stunned for a moment, but her good mood was completely unaffected. She stretched lazily on the spot, then followed Chu Yunmiao and logged off as well.
In the quiet forest, a breeze swept through, leaving no trace of anyone.
But the ambiguous scent the two of them had left behind still lingered in the warm air.
